Periods 4 & 6 - This is for you!

As you know, we've been discussing and reading stories revolving around the question, "When do you really know someone?" Your task for this post is to come up with one song that helps you answer that question, or one that sheds some light on your experiences with that question. In the post, I want you to list the song, the artist, as well as an explanation of how your song selection relates to our question. A quote from the song (a PROVE-IT sentence), as well as a CONNECT-IT sentence, will help in your explanation. Remember, names of songs go in quotation marks, artists' names are capitalized, and your "50 times" rules are in effect.

Here is a sample response:
My thoughts about really knowing someone is best expressed in "Everybody's Changing" by Keane. This song parallels the idea of knowing someone because I believe you NEVER really know a person because we're always changing and, hopefully, evolving. In the song, Keane croons, "I try to make a move just to stay in the game. I try to stay awake and remember my name. Everybody's changing and I don't feel the same." This supports the idea that people are like dynamic characters; they change. Whether that change is for better or worse, it's a challenge to REALLY know them because you, yourself, are changing and growing too.

Alright, my beautiful kids, enlighten me with your ideas. When we're done gathering all of your responses, I am going to make a special playlist for you on this blog with YOUR SELECTIONS!

Love you!

When do you really know someone? My thoughts about this question are best expressed In "Going Through Changes" by Eminem. This song states how people are always changing and dealing with there own problems, therefore I believe you can really never know a person. In the rap,Eminem sings "I'm hatin' my reflection, I walk around the house tryin' to fight mirrors,
I can't stand what I look like, yeah, I look fat, but what do I care? ,Don't know what I'm gonna do, but I just keep on going through changes..." This lyric best supports the idea that indeed people are always going though changes and you'll never know absolutely everything about who they really are.

My song choice is "Dirty Little Secret" by All American Rejects. In the song he says "I'll keep you my Dirty Little Secret". When you really know someone is when you can trust that person with anything and be yourself. This song represents trust, loyalty, and friendship.

The song that helps me answer the question When you really know someone? Is "Secrets" by Good Charlotte. The song says Cause everybody wants to hide their secrets away Nobody wants to stand up to the pain. I think that supports that you never really know someone one because you don`t share your secrets with them.

You all are posting some great responses; however, you are forgetting about how to use GOOD GRAMMAR. For one, keep in mind our "50 times" rules! One is that "I" is capitalized when used by itself or in "I'm." Furthermore, lyrics from songs MUST be in quotation marks. Though that is not a "50 times" rule AT THIS TIME, you should still quote properly.

Keep up the excellent song choices! Proud of you.

SMILE and LOVE YOU ALL!

The song "Halies Song" by Eminem, is a great example for the question:"When do you really know someone?" because it is saying about his daughter and that everyone thinks he’s alright, when truly inside he’s feeling crazy because he loves his daughter and him and his wife don’t get along. In the song, Eminem said "People make jokes, cause they don't understand me they just don't see my real side" This means that people think Eminem is someone who is aggressive, when in reality he’s someone that is loving, and truly loves his daughter. As in people judge by their cover but inside they can be someone completely different.

Our topic question for this blog is: when do you really know someone? I have found a song that decently represents knowing an individual. "Dreams of an absolution" by Lee Brotherton contains soothing, yet touching lyrics that revolve around passionate emotions. In my eyes, knowing someone means being able to relate to them and tell what they're thinking. Here are the lyrics that reflect my notion:

"In the nightlight, do you see what it is you dream?
All your troubles, are they all what they seem?

Look around you, then you may realize
All the creatures saw with the light

And i might know of a future
But then you still control the past

Only you know if we'll be together
Only you know if we shall last"

......It seems cheesy on paper so you may want to hear the song itself.

My thoughts on the question "When do you really know someone?" is best expressed in "If YouDon’t Know Me by Now” by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes (1972). The song that I picked relates to the question because it explains that you should have trust in the person that trusts you. In the song Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes sing, "Just trust in me like I trust in you. As long as we've been together it should be so easy to do. Just get yourself together or we might as well say goodbye." These lyrics best supports the idea because it’s saying if we have been together for a long time we should trust each other, if not try or just give up and separate.

The song I chose to answer the topic question is “Changes" by Tupac. This song relates to the idea because people are always changing in life. In the song, Tupac says, "I'd love to go back to when we played as kids but things changed, and that's the way it is. This supports the idea because throughout life people are growing up and things will never be the same.

The song that I chose is "beautiful Liar" by Beyonce. This song can relate to the topic "when do you really know someone" because in this she trusted the guy and never thought he would cheat on her but she saw him with someone else. So I think that you really never know soemone. She says in the song " I trusted him but when I followed you I saw you together".This means that you really never know someone.

When do you know someone? You don’t hear this question every day of your life. The only time you hear it is when you in trouble with your parents or when your teacher gives you homework. When I had the question in front of my eyes, on the computer screen, the first song that pops in my head was “Breath Me” by Sia. The reason why I chose this song is because you find out who is your friend in your time of need, for example when part the song says “ be my friend, hold me, wrap me up” it means to me a true best friend will be there holding you while you are crying, your hearts out. I really can’t explain very well, I hope the lyrics will show you what I’m trying to say:
Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

The song Jars of Hearts by Christina Perri relates to our topic because she even begins to question the person she’s singing the song to.
I doubt you ever really know a person. The song lyrics:
“And who do you think you are
Running around leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart”
make me believe that you truly never know a person.

The song that I think is the best to relate to the topic ‘’when do you really know someone’’ is ‘’you don’t know me’’ by Ray Charles. For instance, in this song he says ‘’you give your hand to me, then you say goodbye’’. This can relate to the topic because he is saying that he gives you all his trust and you take it for granted. He gives his all to you thinking you will too, and at the end of the day you disappoint him by not giving your all. At the end he thought he knew someone that he really didn’t. He was just living a lie. Therefore you can never ever know someone. P.S the version by Michael Buble is totally better.

The song that I think best suits this topic would have to be "Just as I am" by Air Supply. There is a quote in the song that just says that really does go with the topic which is "I'm not easy to understand, yet you hold out your hand". This can relate to the topic because he is saying that you might not quite understand his way, but yet, this person stands by his side. Just because one person does not stay and help doesn't mean why this other person stay there, we know that this person does understand. I have to say that this song mostly sums a lot about our topic.

I have chose the song "Animal I Have Become" by three day grace because it's about a guy who acts normal and nice to everyone and in a blink of an eye he turns into an animal. This relates to real life because when you meet someone they could be nice around you but once you start hanging around with them on a regular basis and start to get to know them better, they could be someone completely different. Sometimes in a good way or in a bad way

What I think about really knowing someone, I believe , is somewhat reflected by the song “Forever and Always” by Taylor Swift. I believe this song expresses the idea of not knowing someone because she states that she thought she knew the boy she liked but it turned out he was different than she thought, as said in this line of the song “ I looked into your eyes, thought I knew you for a minute now I'm not so sure.” Therefore , I believe time doesn’t tell if you really know a person or not. They will always surprise you with a side you never knew they had.

When do you really know someone? Possibly never, because people are always changing or not showing their true emotions. The song I believe that best expresses the idea is "Written All Over My Face" by Kris Allen. The song basically tells a story of how he denies his feelings towards his girlfriend. The song states,
"Just cause you say it's so
Doesn't make it so
Singing I don't show
What I'm feeling for you
I'd rather shut my mouth
Than to spell it out
There's no doubt
When it's written all over my face." This verse tells me that he's not real infront of his girlfriend, and there is a loss in communication. This songs mostly expresses the idea that you don't know if someone is true or real to you.

When do you really know someone? Well in my opinion you really know someone when they have been In your life for a long time and they mean alot to you, just as much as you mean to them my song is "You've got a friend in me" by The Gipsy Kings. In the lyrics of this song it says "
You've got troubles and I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and see it through." This song gives a good meaning to what it means to be a friend.

I think you never really get to know someone because out of nowhere they can do or say something different that would shock you and you didn’t expect. The song I picked is “I’m looking through you” by The Beatles. Even though I don’t really like that song, I think it relates to our question “When do you really know someone” because in the song they talk about a girl they thought they knew but at the end she did them wrong, which they didn’t expect from her so they didn’t really know her. Here is a quote from the song, “I thought I knew you, what did I know. You don’t look different but you have changed”.

The best song that fits for this question is “I ain’t mad at cha” by Tupac. This song ties into the question because true friends always have each other’s back no matter what. They will do anything for you. In this song Tupac raps “Go toe to toe when it’s time for roll you got a brother’s back and I can’t even trip, cause I’m just laughin at cha, you tryin hard to maintain, then go head cause I ain’t mad at cha.” This part of the lyrics supports the question because that’s what you call a true friend.

In my personal opinion, we never really know someone, And I would like to use "Love" as an example to explain why. I had the chance to hear a really great song called “ I wish I Wasn't” by Heather Headley. And I immediately began to think of the time I was apart of an unfortunate event of betrayal in my family. The part of the song that really got to me was this : “When you touch me my heart melts
And everything you did wrong I forgive…
So you play me and take advantage
Of the love
that I feel for you.
Why you want to hurt me so bad
I believed in you that's why I'm so mad
Now I'm drowning in
disappointment.
And it's hard for me to even look at you, I wish I could go back
To the day before we met
And skip my regret” These verses are very strong and powerful to the idea that we never really know our companions in life, it is not only our goal to love, and honor each other , but to also spend our lives getting to know each other. In a way if you really think about it, its kind of a journey we take.

My thoughts about really knowing someone is best expressed in “Mockingbird” by Eminem. This song explains the concept of really knowing someone because even though you may know somebody you’ll never really know them. In the song, Eminem, “I don’t ever see us being together ever again, like we used to be like we was teenagers. But then of course everything happens for a reason. I guess it was never meant to be. But it’s just something we no control over, and that’s what destiny is.” This supports the factor of never really knowing someone because you may know somebody, but not enough to be with them or be something close to them.

Well when do you really know someone? In my personal opinion, I believe that you never finish knowing someone... They’ll always surprise you. No matter how long you've known them whether years, months, or your whole life you can't know every single detail about someone it's impossible. I chose this song "Blurry" by: Puddle of Mudd. There are many small parts in this song that show the reason as to why I picked it:” Everything's so blurry
and everyone's so fake
and everybody's empty
and everything is so messed up”
“Everyone is changing
there's no one left that's real”
[Chorus]

“Nobody told me what you thought
nobody told me what to say
everyone showed you where to turn
told you when to runaway
nobody told you where to hide
nobody told you what to say
everyone showed you where to turn
showed you when to runaway”
And I really like this song (:

The song that I chose was “Impossible” by Shontelle. I feel that this song ties into the topic “when you really know someone” because of the fact that it is about a girl that couldn’t trust the boy she was with. So there for I feel that in reality you never know someone because of the fact if you cannot trust them you really don’t know them because you don’t know if that’s the real type of person they are or if there just putting on an act just to play it off or in this case being fake.

The song that I have chosen is "MY BEST FRIEND" the theme song from "ROB AND BIG" by Harry Nilson, it ties in with the song because best friends is what gets you through life.

"People let me tell you about my best friend
he's a warm hearted person who'd love me till the end
People let me tell you about my best friend
he's the one boy cuddley toy my up my down my pride'n joy
people let me tell you about him he's so much fun
weather we're talkim man to man weather we're talkin son to son
he's best friend
yeah he's my best friend"

The song that I can relate with this question will be Ordinary People & Everybody Knows by: Joghn Legend. Why Ordinary People? Well because its talks about how we all make mistakes and how we let does mistakes take minutes of our life, when is really a wasted of time. It also talks how we all the same in some way and how we shouldn’t take everything so hard. In Everybody Knows it talks about how people outside of your world think they know everything but really they don’t, because you always have a secret or a feeling that may had cause so much pay you don’t want that out of your heart.

The song that I can relate with this question has to be "WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS" by the BEATLES Because with out help from your friends you might never make it through life.

"Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends,

Oh, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends"

The song that I chose was "Love The Way You Lie" By: Eminem Ft.Rhianna. I chose this song because it relates to the theme "when you really know someone" because, he thought he knew who she was, and all she did was lie to him. In the song, he quotes "I can’t tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
and right now it’s a steel knife in my windpipe I can’t breathe but i still fight while I can fight". What I think he means by it, is that he's in so much pain because of her lieing. This song really relates to the topic "When you really know someone".

A song that really touched me and inspired me was "A Little Bit Longer" by Nick Jonas. Not only because he is a celebrity and I, an average teenage girl have Diabetes. But because of the lyrics
"When I thought it all been lost
When I thought it all been said
A little bit longer and I'll be fine"
It gets to me that he doesn't give up and even with such a busy schedule he can still take care of his blood sugar and it's tough sometimes. Some people think its nothing but there wrong, I've been there a foot away from death in a comma but guess what I've survived. And thanks to him I know Im not alone not anymore.

The song I choose was "Not Afraid" By: Eminem. i choose this song because when you get to know someone your not afraid too try new things with them. you can get together and acheive things you never believed you could. Eminem Quotes "I'm not afraid to take a stand." this relates to our topic of when you really get too know someone.

A song that I truly love is "I Am What I Am" by the Jonas Brothers. This song basically says you are who you are and no one can ever change that, Its not a phase you are the way you are and people are going to have to accept it. One of the lines in this song is "I am what I am I can't help myself and if you don't like it get with somebody else" and theres another line that goes "It's not a phase this is how it is and this is how its going to stay because I know,I know wherever I go, I go I know where I stand I am what I am." I really love these lines they mean alot to me,What this song says is what I feel. You either accept me as a person or get lost because I'm not changing for anybody and neither should you. Why should anybody change for anybody else? This song describes the way I see things when it comes to who you really are as a person.

The question on the table is “when do you really know someone?”My thoughts are that you never know someone, because evryone is always constantly changing.the song “I believe I can fly” by Yolanda Adams. In the song it says “If I can see it,then I can do it,if I just believe it,there’s nothing to it.”This supports my idea that you never really know someone because people see that they can do thing they believe they can change and will change so therefore you never really know someone.

The song that I have choosen is " How do you tell someone" from the band Cowboy Mouth. I chose this song because it talks about how people really dont know who is who and if at the end of the day if they still love them.A part to this song says "Did you ever want me? I swear I have tried. How do you tell someone you dont love them, how do you tell someone you don't care anymore". This song represents the way people think about some people but it's hard to say. and how people think certain things about the people their with and don't really know anything at all.

My thoughts for the quote "when do you really know someone?" is best expressed by the song "The last three letters" by Alesana. In this song, he talks about how he is unsure if the woman he loves, loves him the same way, or if shes faking it. "Was this all a lie?", is one of the words of the song. I don't really think you ever know someone, even if you might know them for a long time.

When I think of the qoute "When do you really know someone" many things come to my mind. I dont believe you ever really know someone I think you get to know half of who they are or what they try to be. The song that to me explains this the best is "Complicated" by "Avril lavine" why I chose this song, well because in this song it explains fully how you can go and act like you are someone eles. How it says "Your watching your back like you cant relax, trying to be cool you look like a fool to me" . "Laugh out when you strike a pose, take off all your preepy clothes, your not fooling anyone when you become sombody else, around everyone else" to me this is the perfect song for this qoute and I believe that it truly explains the truth how everyone can change who the want to be, or say they are.

When do you really know someone? I think the song is best expressed is Because you love me by Celine Dion.

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

To me, it’s when you know that you can trust that person enough, to let them take care of you.

I believe this verse of Emienm in the song "Love The Way You Lie" is best express when you know someone really well. The reason for that is because they know what is going to happen and what is going to be said.

Now I know we said things did things that we didn't mean
And we fall back into the same patterns same routine
But your temper's just as bad as mine is
You're the same as me
But when it comes to love you're just as blinded
Baby, please come back
It wasn't you, baby it was me
Maybe our relationship wasn't as crazy as it seemed
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much to walk away though
